Gregorios inherited his Ambient Gene from his ancestor, Hercules.
He was abandoned on a doorstep of an orphanage as a baby. It was a cold night and he died of hypothermia. This activated his dormant Ambient Gene, which brought him back to life and gave him his Ambient super powers.
He was taken in by the orphanage and given the name, Gregorios. He has no last name. His powers developed gradually and individually. The first power he developed was the ability to speak to spirits. He began speaking to the spirit of Leonidas, the former warrior king of the ancient kingdom of Sparta. Leonidas took Gregorios under his wing and raised him as a son. He also trained Gregorios to be a warrior and a king.
When Gregorios grew up, he protected Greece from the “Titans” — giant sized monsters created by Dr. Van Zandt with dinosaur DNA. In exchange for continuing to protect Greece from supernatural threats, Gregorios was given his own province located in what used to be Sparta.
He named it New Sparta and built an enclosed kingdom of modern living mixed with ancient Greek traditions. He is worshipped like a God by those that he allows to live within his Kingdom. New Spartans wear black togas instead of white.
He agreed to join Battle Hammer for the chance to go to war and make a name for himself like the great Greek warriors and kings before him.
Abilities: The Black Spartan is an Ambient Being, which means that his cells absorb energy from the Ambient dimension and convert it into his unique power set.
- High levels of super-strength and invulnerability.
- The ability to create black energy constructs. He uses this ability to create weapons, armor, and clothing.
- The ability to communicate with spirits.
- He can create a black, spreading energy manifestation beneath his feet. The energy manifestation is a portal to the Ambient dimension. He can disappear into it and travel along surfaces. He can summon spirits from the energy manifestation and temporarily give them human form. He often uses this ability to summon ancient Spartan warriors to aid him in combat. He can also create armor, weapons, and clothing for the spirits he summons.
